Not to be confused with (but yet running in conjunction with) Focal Point’s 50th anniversary in 2025, Music Folk is celebrating 50 years this year! Technically it’s their 51st anniversary, but who’s counting… Music Folk is where it ALL started!
Waaaaaay back in 1973 Bill and Janet Boyer opened Music Folk, an acoustic instrument store and Folk Music School in Webster Groves. Two years later in 1975 they started The Focal Point, which presented bi-weekly concerts in the Music Folk storefront. The Focal Point would then split off on its own to eventually become the bunker of civilization that you all have come to know and love. Neither Music Folk nor the Focal Point has forgotten their roots, which is of course very important in the Folk’n’Roots scene, and have maintained a friendly relationship all these many years. Thus in celebration and recognition of our cousin establishment up the street, we’ve invited their entire staff of expert folkies and a gathering of The Boyer’s to our stage for a TWO night blowout!
Night One features Andy Ploof, Wes Jones, Blake Korte, Heather Manley, Lukas Simpson and many many more staff and friends of the last 50+ years ducking in and out!
Night Two will feature a very special reunion of the Boyer Family Band. Bill Boyer, Janet Boyer and their children had a family band for many years. For this show Susan Boyer Haley, Joe Boyer and Becky Boyer Hall will be reuniting in commemoration of the legacy of their parents, Music Folk and by proxy, The Focal Point!
