Kieran Kane & Rayna Gellert

March 28 @ 8:00 pm

$25 – $30

We are happy to once again have Kieran Kane & Rayna Gellert back at Focal Point. Those who’ve seen their previous shows know what to expect; those who haven’t are in for a real treat.

Kieran (perhaps best known for his work with the O’Kanes and The Dead Reckoners) and Rayna (known for her tenure with Uncle Earl & Joachim Cooder) first met, fittingly, at San Francisco’s celebrated Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival, which led to their co-writing songs for Kieran’s solo album Unguarded Moments. They joined forces again for Rayna’s 2017 release, Workin’s Too Hard. Their first duo album, The Ledges, soon followed in early 2018 on Dead Reckoning Records, followed up by 2019’s When the Sun Goes Down, and in 2022 The Flowers That Bloom in Spring, which finds the duo digging deeper into their exploration of minimalist writing and production.

Kieran and Rayna are set to begin a 2025 touring schedule on the heels of their latest album—simply titled Volume 4 (out April 11, 2025 on Dead Reckoning Records, but available at the Focal Point concert)—which captures their less-is-more philosophy, but with some fresh twists.

Volume 4 digs into the duo’s musical past while adding fresh elements of collaboration, including Kiernan’s son . Highlighting Rayna’s history as a premier old-time fiddle player with the inclusion of a couple traditional instrumentals, Volume 4 also documents versions of older songs of Kieran’s that have become crowd favorites from the duo’s shows—as well as some recently uncovered gems from a batch of “lost” demos. This new collection presents an intimate snapshot of Kieran and Rayna’s minimalist musical journey.
