Drawing inspiration from the rich string band culture of the Virginia-Carolina Blue Ridge region, The Alum Ridge Boys & Ashlee bring together old time mountain music, traditional bluegrass, and early country music to produce a uniquely authentic old time sound. The Floyd County-based string band plays regularly for dances and festivals around the country and they have won many contests including the old time band contest at the 85th Annual Old Fiddlers’ Convention in Galax, VA and the bluegrass band contest at the 51st Mount Airy Fiddlers’ Convention in NC. They have had the honor of performing for two governors of the state of Virginia and are regularly featured at historic venues along The Crooked Road – Virginia’s Heritage Music Trail. Featuring Andrew Small on mandolin and fiddle, Trevor Holder on the 5-string banjo, Ashlee Watkins on guitar, Rina Rossi on bass, and AJ Srubas on fiddle, the Alum Ridge Boys & Ashlee’s powerful harmony singing and energetic instrumentals have made them one of Southwest Virginia’s favorite string bands.
