SUMMARY:MInor Gold
DESCRIPTION:Minor Gold\, Tracy and Dan\, shared a night of music at Focal Point last June and we’re excited to have them return for a full show of their own! \nBlending sixth-sense harmonies with sun-dappled folk-rock\, Minor Gold is the award-winning transpacific duo of Dan Parsons (AUS) and Tracy McNeil (CAN). Both celebrated artists in their own right\, together they create a kind of musical alchemy-“the indeterminate perfection of how these two artists’ voices lock in together hits right where the emotions live inside us.” — Double J \nDelivering heartfelt songs\, free-spirited rhythms and magnetic onstage chemistry\, Minor Gold bring something both familiar and refreshingly new to the Americana/folk world. Since forming in 2022\, Parsons and McNeil have spent much of their time on international highways\, carrying their songs across the U.S.\, Canada\, Europe and Australia. They’ve won over the finest listening rooms\, appeared at major festivals\, delivered official showcases\, and shared stages with Grammy winner Dan Navarro\, as well as supporting The Teskey Brothers in the U.S. \nTheir sophomore album Way To The Sun\, recorded in California with producer Dan Horne (Mapache\, Cass McCombs)\, marks a radiant new chapter. The album spent nine weeks on the US Americana Radio Chart\, appeared in UNCUT’s Top Tracks of the Month\, earned ★★★★ reviews from Shindig (UK) and PROG Magazine\, and was praised by Americana UK as “retro California sounds brought bang up to date.” \nMinor Gold kick off 2026 with an EU/UK tour before bringing their magic to North America in the Spring. Catch them while you can.

SUMMARY:Clinton Davis with The Dust Covers (presented by The Focal Point Friends of Old-Time Music)
DESCRIPTION:We’re excited to welcome back Clinton Davis to The Focal Point!\n \nClinton Davis is an old time folk musician based in Southern California. A fifth-generation Kentuckian\, Davis grew up in rural Carroll County. His repertoire spans fiddle and banjo music native to his family home\, the exuberant ragtime piano and guitar of early 20th-century New Orleans\, and ballad songs and dance music of the Southwest.\n \nDavis’ concerts cover a lot of musical ground and are expansive in their mood\, style\, and instrumentation\, with his only concern being to communicate the multi-faceted beauty of American music traditions wherever and however he finds it. A delicate expression on the banjo might lead to a powerful ragtime stomp on the piano. A ballad sung simply and directly can be followed by technical wizardry on the guitar.\n \nHis interpretation of American traditional music has earned high praise from the California Bluegrass Association\, who called his work “innovative…dazzling…both sonically familiar and completely fresh.” Renowned authority of American roots guitar Stefan Grossman\, has called him “a master…carrying on the traditional music torch of Mike Seeger.” Deering Banjos has called his playing “simply sublime.”  In 2021\, Davis released his first full-length solo album\, ‘If I Live and I Don’t Get Killed\,’ on Tiki Parlour Recordings. In 2025 he released his followup\, “Ever Returning.”\n \nSharing the stage with Clinton\, we’re pleased to have The Dust Covers\, a St. Louis\, Missouri based string band whose musical focus is on the tunes and songs from the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas and Missouri and other surrounding regions.  Their catchy tag line *songs you don’t know by dead guys you’ve never heard of* is an apt description of what to expect\, and their fan base definitely seems to prefer it that way. When these three gents – Nick Pence (banjo\, guitar & vocals)\, Colin Blair (fiddle\, mandolin & vocals) and Joey Glyn (upright bass take the stage\, the audience will be rewarded with an enticing mix of fiddle tunes\, country blues\, folk songs and harmonies all given The Dust Covers treatment.

SUMMARY:Ricky Nye Presented by Focal Point Friends of Traditional Jazz\, Blues & Ragtime
DESCRIPTION:Blues\, boogie woogie\, ballads and classic New Orleans jazz and R&B all come from the hands and heart of Cincinnati\, Ohio pianist Ricky Nye. Inducted into the International Boogie Woogie Hall Of Fame in 2013\, Ricky has been the recipient of numerous awards given by CityBeat Magazine and The Cincinnati Enquirer throughout the years. The driving force behind the annual Blues & Boogie Piano Summit held in Northern Kentucky from 1999-2017 and reinstated in 2025\, Ricky regularly performs his infectious blend of American roots music at concerts and clubs throughout the U.S. and has maintained a career in Europe and the U.K. for over twenty five years. \n“Known for its rollicking\, foot-stomping jubilance\, the boogie-woogie sound erupted from the American South during the late 1920s. This piano-centric subgenre of the jazz tradition drew its structural elements from the blues and spirituals\, but introduced an intoxicating rhythmic complexity that inspired generations of young dancers. Ricky Nye is one of the nation’s leading players and preservationists of boogie-woogie\, stunning audiences with unmatched authenticity\, virtuosic speed and playful arrangements”- Vail Jazz

SUMMARY:Compton and Newberry
DESCRIPTION:Mike Compton and Joe Newberry collaborate with a vision that is both modern and ageless\, digging deep into early country music\, blues\, and other heartbeat sounds of traditional music. Their performances at home and abroad\, from the Grand Ole Opry and Prairie Home Companion in the U.S.\, to Australia’s National Folk Festival and Glasgow’s Celtic Connections overseas\, showcase soul-stirring instrumentals\, numbers from the great American songbag\, as well as newly composed songs and tunes that are already taking their rightful place in the tradition. \nCompton and Newberry recognize that they are part of a long line of music and musicians. “The music that we make for an audience\, and for ourselves\, is a deep connection that we don’t take for granted.  We are proud to be paying it forward in gatherings large and small.” \n“Bluegrass Today” says of Compton and Newberry\, “Real music performed by artists with a deep appreciation for the folk traditions that came before them… They pull off what’s almost impossible these days: honest\, genuine music that will get your soul dancing.” \nCompton and Newberry are shining a much-deserved contemporary light on the roots\, as they tend to the branches\, too. As “Mandolin Cafe” put it\, “Two musicians\, two instruments and two voices capture the essence of how great music can be.”

SUMMARY:Rum Drum Ramblers
DESCRIPTION:For two decades\, Rum Drum Ramblers have bridged the gap between pre-war string band country blues and post-war city blues\, with a blend of deep-welled influences\, instrumental prowess\, and raw feeling. Mat Wilson (guitar\, vocals)\, Ryan Koenig (harmonica\, washboard\, mandolin\, fiddle\, bones\, vocals)\, and Joey Glynn (upright bass) have recorded two studio albums and have become one of St Louis’ most celebrated roots outfits through their dynamic\, feel-good live performances. \nSince forming in 2006\, the Rum Drum Ramblers have been honing their original St Louis string band blues in barrooms\, clubs\, street corners\, listening rooms and festivals.
