Will Soll Presents U City Klezmer Experience
June 11 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
$15 – $20
The newly formed U City Klezmer Experience features veterans from the klezmer and St. Louis scene. Their high octane dance music and poignant Yiddish song were recently featured as part of St. Louis’ annual Hanukkah Hullabaloo. Will Soll (guitar, mandolin, vocal) has long been one of St. Louis’ most passionate and prolific advocates of Yiddish music. Gabe Segal (clarinet, saxophone), originally from Seattle, has played in several klezmer groups including The Schmaltz Street Klezmer Band and Jumbo Knish Factory. Alyssa Avery (fiddle) is one of the most versatile violinists in the St. Louis area and is co-founder of the St. Louis String Collective. Shlomo Ovadya (percussion) has played klezmer as part of Ottoman Underground and has toured nationally with Teddy Presburg and Rick Recht. Andy Curry (bass) is a veteran of bands and orchestras performing in many genres; he is also a cantor, arranger, and composer-in-residence at B’nai Amoonah. Their concert will span the arc of klezmer music including traditional wedding music, songs of city life, New World manifestations and contemporary tunes.
