BAJA
April 8 @ 8:00 pm
$20 – $25
There’s a saying that “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.” Musical case in point: BAJA unites the collaborative efforts of two long-standing St. Louis music duos – Auset and Brad Sarno of the Auset Music Project and Andy Ploof and John Wendland of The Wilhelms. The result is a mélange of various forms of roots music – folk, rock, country, singer-songwriter – played on a wide range of musical instruments and featuring four vocalists. Pedal steel, mandolin, dobro, banjo, guitar, harmonica, and percussion will all make appearances at various times and in different combinations on a mix of original songs and covers. Joining BAJA will be the irrepressible Tony Estrada (Rough Shop/All the Days) on bass.
Andy Ploof and John Wendland have played together for over 25 years in various incarnations including One Fell Swoop, Rough Shop, and The Wilhelms. The duo has appeared in numerous venues and festivals throughout the United States and have also toured in Europe multiple times.
Auset and Brad Sarno have played together for over 20 years as the Auset Music Project and have performed in a myriad of venues and festivals. Brad has also lent his pedal steel talents to several recordings by other artists including Son Volt.
This night will mark the second appearance of BAJA at Focal Point and will be their first time on stage together in over two years. This should make for a celebratory atmosphere and a special night of music. A splendid time is guaranteed for all!
